The May Queen

May queens with flowers in their hair

Flit back and forth with baskets, share.

The drops of sun shine they are flinging

Are small white flowers, what joy they’re bringing!

With small white fingers they braid their hair

In ripples of laughter they fondle with care.

And in their hair they weave some Thyme,

Some daisies, and Pansies and vines.

In bursts of glee they crowd around

A girl in golden flowers crowned.

Gentleness, Kindness, and love are her ways,

For she is the only Queen of May.

The Night Has Gone

The night
Has gone,
Thus lights
The dawn
In rays
Of gold;
Bright rays
Behold.

So dark
Dead night
Can spark
No fright;
To all
Sleepers:
Morn calls
Wakers!

TITANIC

Titanic
Bang, bang; hammer, hammer.
Building her
Rivet, rivet; tic, tacket, tic.

She rises from the ground;
And by the world is crowned.

Titanic
Hoorah, hooray; there she goes.
She blows
Froom, horumph: the funnel.

A million voices shouting,
For Pride was abounding.

Titanic
Swishing, splishing through night.
Dark waters
Silence, silence: roars the seas.

The sea is glass
And silent, is the mass.

Titanic
Bump,tilt, zzzzn and scratch.
Blue berg
Ice, splice, shiver and rittle.

God save our souls!
This from a thousand voices rolls.

Titanic
Driving, diving; thunderous quake.
Silence forever
Hush, hush the sea tide whispers.

Titanic is bound in silent grip
For only God could sink that ship.

City Bright

In slumber I wake to his calling
But in anguish, I am mauling
What once was His delight
I now in slumber blight.

The earth created perfect
Under His hand no defect,
Yet Lucifer came along
Seizing earth, to him belong.

Now under Satan’s rule
I sleep walk like a fool,
What God has made right
I am blind and wake in night.

God in His Mercy and Compassion
Has found for me a bastion;
And has provided me a way
To be in His arms to stay.

Now, am I an overcomer
And rejoice over that great blunder.
For He has given me a light
To find my way to city bright.

Happy poem in your pocket day!!

A letter at a time,
A word that perchance rhymes,
A lyric that fills a tune;
To be sung from May to June,
Then kept for years to come,
Over and over again, sung.

These are things of life;
They are precious and without strife,
They harness the galloping wind,
As we sing over the din,
For when we have quieted all,
We will have nothing left to solve.

For our words will have meaning,
And it will be beautiful poetry!

The Tailored Storm

The torrent was that of a grey sleeve,
It fell to fit gracefully,
The wet fabric falling fitfully;
Never stopping to breath.

Then came the scissor’s cut!
A sliver blade ripping through,
Cutting into the dark hue;
Never considering its seam.

Now at storms end they cleave,
Coloring the suit perfectly,
All who see cower lowly;
Amazed at God’s colorful team.

For our sin is undercut,
Because of His unblemished grace,
And in the presence of His face;
Wearing the coat of many colors, we will be redeemed!

All in a Day

Peace hath slept in slumber,
And doeth his work well,
Peace hath no sadness,
But in a stillness doth he dwell.
Sloth has no work,
For work is not his own,
His slumber never ends,
And weariness is in his bones.
Joy hath many friends,
Going to and fro;
Skipping in her gladness,
She pulls her happy plow.
Anger is of sorrow,
Learning not of joy,
Feeling ever mournful,
And depression doth he enjoy.
When the day is done,
And all have had their say,
Wisdom comes and calls,
Bringing understand in her way.
